All about your rides / Re: Off road levels
« Last post by Suresh on 23 July 20, 10:20:22  »
Hello Rohan,

Our levels are based on driver capabilities and we always have anyone new, in the group, start off from newbie level.

The reason for that is there is a huge gap between how a person actually drives and what (s)he feels the way (s)he drives and also the fact that levels being floated across all off road groups are not standardized.

We promote people up the levels based on feed backs from the leads and support team.

We enforce a minimum 10 drives with us on Newbie level before we evaluate a person for next Newbie+ level. This was we get to evaluate you by multiple leads and then take a call, as each lead will have their own style of driving and track choices. Past that, it is all up to the person as to how much confidence (s)he shows while driving and how much confidence the marshals have in taking that person to the next level.

It is a risky game and no one want to make the wrong call - we would rather be safe than sorry.

Wonder why the “leads/decision makers” of DR act in a puerile fashion when it comes to intimating a member of any negative decision such as downgrading or non-inclusion in an event.

Does not common decency require such a decision be intimated at the least by a Private Message, to the concerned member? Or is the member to be become aware of the same, purely by chance and have the same being confirmed on specific enquiry?

More than one incident in the recent past has compelled me to raise the issue 😊

Good question.  Thought they share many common components, I am not sure if the Prado also requires a spindle reinforcement. Have not come across them, t be honest.

But, since both vehicles have similar setup and engines, I would rather have the spindle reinforced, rather than risk it.

Reckon those with Prado will be able to provide better details.  This is just a unstudied opinion of mine.

Thanks Suresh.

Hi Suresh,
Do Prado needs a Spindle reinforcement, since most of the part of the FJ's are identical to Prado's?

Spindle reinforcement is a must. Let me repeat - a must!

And why are you looking at wider tire? The FJ is nor top heavy and you are also going in for spacers, so why? Tire will scrap a bit in the inner well plastic part, ignore it and drive on. No need to cut.

I still have my rear skid plates on my LWB 2011 Pajero. Not using it off road now. Let us talk tomorrow before the drive. I will be in my Yellow FJ. :)
